How we got here and where we're going
Hello, my name is James McCann. I am the co-founder and director of YDATS. I would like to start by telling you little bit about myself and how I co-founded YDATS and why its important. 16 years ago, my mother was diagnosed with Front Temporal Dementia. This kind of Dementia gave her a lot of pain to walk so she was in a wheelchair most of the time and trying to organize a disabled taxi to get her to appointments was a nightmare.
One day at my 9-5 job, I heard that the Western Australian Government was offering a Cadetship for owner/drivers for disabled taxis. So, I gave up my 9-5 job, got myself a van, kitted it out with everything I would need and took the Government up on their Cadetship. I did this so people like my mum get to their appointments on time and get back into society.
In the time I have been driving disabled taxis, I have won the W.A. Access Taxi Driver of the Year 2010 for outstanding services for the disabled community. I have driven a lot of customers in the many years I have been doing this work, and a lot of them have become great friends. I hope that maybe one day, we will become friends too. In our business we specialise in the transport of people with disabilities. We have over 25 years of combined experience in this field and our priority is customer service and making sure our customer gets the best service that we can provide.
How YDATS is different from other companies. when you advanced book a taxi with us, that booking time and date is locked into one of our vehicles and you are provided with a driver number and name, so you know who is picking you up. When you get to know our drivers you may choose to have a particular driver picking you up all the time, we will try our best to provide you with that driver.
We know how important it is for you to get to your appointments and activities on time safely. All of our drivers are trained in strapping down wheelchairs and your safety is our number 1 priority. The one thing that makes us different from other companies, is our commit to reliability, punctuality, and friendly service. We also are providing a service in the community that allows people with or without a disability to get out and enjoy their community.
our clients ranger in age and level of disability and are all treated with respect and understanding. weather it be for medical appointment, shopping or socializing. all our clients know that we will do our best to meet their requirements. our clients are more than just clients they become friends as well because we are more then just a business!
